Incubating eggs

My female Cham has finally decided to use her laying bin, she has been digging all day so I'm guessing she didn't use the hole I dug for her. Anyway I have a Tupperware the size of a small shoe box and was wondering what all the different type of substrate I could use in the box for her eggs? Please this is the only info I need, no more. Thanks!

Yeah, you can find vermiculite at lowes or a nursery. Get coarse grade with no fertilizer or anything else in it. The general rule is to mix water in it until you can squeeze just a drop or so out of it. Its easier to fix it if its a little on the dry side than if its super wet.

Anything else? Like clean dirt, mud, sand? I don't understand why her eggs wouldn't be able to hatch in sand if that's what she lays them in?

You can try soils or sand or other things, but why wouldn't you use things that have been proven to work instead of things that have been proven to be difficult to use? When I first started I tried a number of things but the only thing that worked consistently is the coarse vermiculite moistened so that when a fist full of it is squeezed only a drop or two of water comes out of it.

Vermiculite works great! It is cheap, easy to get,(any garden shop) does not attract bugs. And when your done with it you can toss it in your garden or raised bed.:D
