Hi, I am currently breeding crickets, mealworms and the indian stick bug.
I am just wondering if anyone has fed the stick bugs to their chameleon?
Are the ok to feed to him? I can only gutload them with blackberry leaves so unless they hold some awsome nutrients, is there a point?

i have fed my cham a stick bug... but the guy at the pet store told me he would like it. i dont know what kind it was. also it didnt smell so i think it is ok. gutloading, idk.

It's actually a pretty nutritious insect and a great enrichment feeder.
How long have you been keeping them?
You will have thousands ... one will produce a few hundred eggs in a year.

where can u buy bulk walking sticks...my parents would let me get those for sure
Check with your local state, to see if your able to keep. Imagine what it looks like watching a chameleon swallowing a straw. If your feeding cleaned blackberry leaves, that's a healthy food source to pass along via ingestion.

My chams like them as well... Chuck, what do you keep yours in? I have mine in a tank now but I think I am going to move them to a screen cage soon... Pics?

Where can you find stick bugs? I saw them available on kingsnake a while back...but now I cant find them.

lol my friend keeps stick bugs so i assumed that they were legal in my state. also i catch them all the time so i thought they were legal.

I Have A Problem...

I invested in a Walking Stick colony... more aesthetic than cockroaches, smell nicer than crickets, lots of gut-load potential...

My chameleons do not seem to recognize them as food items... apparently their camoflage works too well! I have three walking stick bugs of various sizes peacefully cohabiting with my chameleons at the moment.

I would be surprised if their were any 'advice' that could solve this problem, other than leave them in there for a couple of days and see if they eventually figure it out.

Keep you posted...

the chams are Jacksons, the sticks are M. Edentada.

Are you dusting? I'm sure the chameleon will be able to see a nice freshly dusted one. Give it a shot.

I will give it a shot... I had a very strange sort of burglery last weekend... most of my pet food is missing along with my telephone and answering machine, if you can believe (nothing else is missing... no valuables, taken - oh yeah, they took an Exo-terra lamp...weird)... as soon as I can find my dust, I'll give it a shot.

Actually... I would be scared to shake a stick insect... the legs come off pretty easy... if they can't move...well...

But, you've given me an idea... a coloured spray... it's just that... they are already green... isn't that supposed to be the best colour anyway? Anyway, I'll do some experiment tomorrow, thanks!

If my chameleons wise up (and I think they'll be coming around), can I get my bugs into the feeder database?
