Hi everyone,
My male veiled chameleon Klaus is 3.5 months old, and I got him 5 weeks ago. This is my first chameleon, so I am keen to take advice from more experienced owners, as I want to ensure I am using the correct supplementation etc.
I bought Klaus' set up as a package deal, where I got a Reptibreeze cage, some plants, a light dome & bulb (Arcadia D3 UV Basking Lamp 100w) etc. They included some insect dusting powder, and so I have been using this as instructed, but having read some of the comments on this forum, I'm not sure whether this powder: is being used too much/is insufficient without other supplementation/shouldn't be used at all.
The powder I am using is Komodo Chameleon Insect Dusting Powder. The details are below. Please could you let me know whether this product is sufficient or whether I should swap it for some other supplements. If so, I would be grateful for some specific products. I live in the UK.
Ingredients: Vitamins A, D3 & E, spirulina, kelp, pure marigold, probiotic bacteris, yucca extract, natural antioxidants phosphorus, fine grade calcium carbonate, rosehip, yeast, dextrose, alfalfa meal, calcium caseinate, wheat flour.
The label says to use this product every time insects are offered, but I am now a little skeptical so would love your advice. Here are some other points that might be relevant:
- He doesn't yet get any natural sunlight other than whatever is filtered through the window, as it's still cold out.
-At the moment he only has crickets & some veggies such as carrot & red pepper...I will be buying some locusts & possible some dubia roaches too.
-The insects are fed dry diet plus veg/fruit e.g. apple, carrot etc. & bug gel for hydration.
Sorry if I have left anything out! Thanks in advance
Lucy
