Hello everyone. I have been debating heavily about getting a chameleon, and im very interested in getting one. Im a full time student, and i work part time. I was looking for a smaller breed of chameleon and I was wondering what I should look for? I mean of course everything starts out small, but If it grows huge, I dont think Id have enough room for a huge Terrarium. I can get a smaller one but nothing really big. I looked at a carpet Chameleon online and at PetSmart they have some Veiled Chameleons that look small but the lady said it woiuld grow bigger. I would prefer getting a female, because they tend to be a lot smaller than the males. Any help and anything I should know would help me a lot. I have a few caresheets and have some favorited online for reference. Thanks in advance for your time!

here is a bunch of pages that gave me a lot to think about! theres info about husbandry, specifics for female care, lighting etc. i do have limited advice because i have a veiled male, but hopefully it is a good read for you. please try to read most of it and you will be happier about knowing a bit more... :)

I dont see a link if you tried to post one here lol. Or are you talking about this site in general? Ive been looking at a lot of the info here, but it doesnt list anything in relation to the sizes of the chameleons..

ah. well size specific, my veiled is almost full grown at 8-9 months old and he is about 5.5" from nose to butt (not including the tail). i have him in a rather large cage 25" deep X30" wide X61" tall. the females can be in a much smaller enclosure like 18"X18"X36" as the minimum size. the carpet chams i have read that they take up a lot less space and require different husbandry and enclosure set ups... hopefully someone else has something informative to say about their size.

is your main concern the space the cage will take up or is it other care requirements?

lol yeah I saw that right after I posted. Well the care isnt a huge concern so much as the space. Also, i dont think a bigger chameleon would be happier in my smaller room. So I figured a smaller one would be easier and not get as "claustrophobic".
