Hey everyone! So I've got a baby Veiled Chameleon, he is almost 2 months old. Let me just tell you a little about Pascal...

Cage Type: 24x24x48 aluminum all screen cage. Yes, I know its big, but honestly he loves it. He explores all day long and is very active.

Lighting: In the right corner is the red 100wt basking bulb, The light in the middle is 75wt. sun glow basking bulb, the swirl light on the left is a 26wt 5.0 UVB bulb. Lights are on for 12 hours a day, and off for 12 hours. Yes, the wts are high, be the enclosure is inside and we keep it cold in the house since it is 80-90 degrees outside right now.

Temperature: The temp. at the top right is 90ish. The temp. to the left is 80ish. The temp in the middle and the bottom is 70ish. The humidity fluctuates between 70-80. I have a mist king mister that we are currently setting up and will be in full effect tomorrow...For now, I have just been spraying the cage very often.

Plants: All fake plants, I have 2 real driftwood in there and the rest of the vines are fake.

Chameleon Info:
Pascal: He is a Veiled, male, just about 2 months.

Feeding & Supplements: THIS IS MY BIGGEST QUESTION!!!! Please look at the pictures of what I have bought for him!
He gets 15-20 small crickets a day, and 2 mealworms a day. I have been lightly dusting these with exo terra calcium WITHOUT d3 every feeding. Is this correct?
I bought an exo terra multivitamin and repti calcium WTIH d3 that I was going to use 2x a month for each. My question here is....the multivitamin says it has d3 in it, do I need to return this and look for a multivitamin without it? Since I will be giving him the repti calcium with d3 2x a month anyways? Or is it okay for the multivitamin and the calcium with d3 to be used? Will that be too much d3? Also, when should I use the multivitamin and the calcium with the d3? rotate them out? What is best?!

Watering: Like I said, we are working on the Mist King Misting System now and will be up and running tomorrow.

Fecal Description: Brown, with a white tip most of the time, sometimes there's no white. Sometimes solid that looks dry, Sometimes solid that looks a little wet.

I don't think I forgot anything...

Take a look at my pics!

The only thing I recommend is getting rid of the 100 watt for now. For a baby an 80 degree bask will be fine until he's older, then bring out the large light again.

Also, if you haven't, cover the dirt of the plants with large rocks if you have live plants.

Also, if your supplement multivitamin has d3 in it, you do not have to use the d3. Only use the multivitamin 2x a month.

Cheers.

Most here would recommend using a long, tube UVB light. Those are the best way to go.

This is a great setup, and also includes a 6.5K bulb which will help your live plants if you get any in the future. It will also light your cage up more, and your cham will thank you. ;) You can call Todd (in link below) and he can answer all your questions. GREAT guy!

Also, you only need one basking bulb, not two.

As far as dusting, this is what I do. Use calcium with no D3 at almost every feeding.

Then I rotate every Sunday with dusting with calcium with D3, and then multi-vitamin the next Sunday. So you're basically dusting with each separately, twice a month. Hope that makes sense.

Here's what I use:

Pic #2, you have a bendy branch way to close to your basking bulb.
You don't want your little guy to be allowed to get that close or he will get a serious burn.
Also, the 100w bulb is too much. I get 90F with a 60w bulb (in a reflective dome fixture) with the closest branch 10'' below.

Chams regulate by internal body temp, so they can very easily burn on the skin before reaching the proper internal temp.
Sort of like if you put a chicken in the oven at 500F, the skin will burn well before it's cooked on the inside :)

Thank you all so much for your input! I have taken care of the branches that were too close to the lamps and I've got the 75wt bulb in there! I really do appreciate it! Also, with the supplements...is there one that's better than the other? Or will the exo terra supplements be fine? I guess I will use the multivitamin that has the d3 in it and never use the calcium with d3. I don't want him getting too much! The misting system is finally up and running today! He definitely doesn't like to get wet. Haha!

I don't know much about the different brands, it's plain old calcium with no D3 or phosphorus that you want to dust with daily.
The brands you have in the pics are the same ones I am using.

I use Repashy's calcium plus instead of the multivitamin and cal + D3.
I use it about once a week, and the rest of the time, it's just calcium.

I also use the Repashy calcium + LowD for mostly my jacksons.

Keep in mind, suppliments are just that, a supplement, for when they don't get everything they need naturaly.
If you gut load your feeders properly (use ONLY USDA certified organic produce) and your cham gets real sun from out doors, you can cut back on suppliments.

Suppliments should only be used as needed, and your situation may be different from others, so it's best not to just follow exactly what someone elses schedule is.

If you have any questions and don't want to post them, feel free to PM me :)

I kind of think of supplements like feeders. Variety is best since they are all made different.
All in all I use 6 different supplements.
Rep-cal Calcium no D3 (every feeding)
Sticky Tongue Miner-all Outdoor (every other day mixed with Calcium)
Zoo Med Calcium W/D3 (once every other weekend)(twice a month)
Rep-Cal herptivite (once a month)
Zoo Med Reptivite without D3 (once a month)
Repashy Supervite (once a month on 1 dubia)

All are done with a light dusting
