Is he shedding?

My 8 month old veiled is sleeping most of the day. Ive heard everywhere that is not a good sign. However, his color is completely normal and he is still eating and occasionally moves. Ive noticed white flakes around his left eye and nostrils. Ive heard that white stuff coming out of his nostrils could be excess calcium but I could also be shedding skin. Any comments on if you think he is simply shedding and does not want to move alot or if hes sick would be appreciated

What kind of UVB light are you using? If you are getting dust out of his nose, cut back on the calcium. You are most likely over dusting.

When my cham started shedding just a few days ago, the first flakes I noticed were on his eyes and nose. Look for his color to seem more white or cloudy than normal, if it seems that way then a shed is coming soon.

you don't dust his feeders at all? no calcium or anything? what do you gutload with? I would strongly recommend going out and getting some supplements asap. His food needs to be dusted with calcium without D3 at most feedings so his bones can be strong and healthy, without it you are putting him at risk for getting mbd (which could be causing the daytime sleeping maybe? im not very educated on mbd). do a search of supplements on here and read the importance of using them and find a supplement schedule. You should get some calcium with D3 and some multivitamins while you are at it. Can you post a few pics of your cham please.

I gutload with Flukers high calcium cricket diet, Flukers vitamin rich cricket quencher, and vegetables such as carrots and collard greens.

I was worried this morning but after I got home from school, I saw that the white residue around his eyes and nostrils had grown into easily identifiable flakes. When I got home he woke up and started rubbing against a branch. Im confident hes shedding now. Thanks to everyone who replied, your concern is appreciated

so whats up with the sleep during the day? shedding doesnt cause chams to sleep during the day. your gutload sounds good but you should still be dusting as ghettomike pointed out. a consistant dusting schedule is a must. spray your cham down as well if it seems like a rough shed.
