Is it normal for a male veiled to be dark in color when brought home for the first time?

I just got this guy in the mail today, he is a young adult veiled. When I opened the package, he had vibrant colors, but when I placed him in the cage, he went dark in color. It has only been a few hours, and I am wondering if this is normal and if he will lighten up eventually. He seems otherwise healthy.

They are light and vibrant in shipping because they are sleeping... Their colors when sleeping always lighten and become quite beautiful. Typically when basking they will be darker to absorb more heat.
As long as your cage is set up correctly there should not be an issue per the colors he is displaying now.

Rule of thumb for Veileds... vibrant display colors are more common when they are either sleeping, showing their dominance, or are stressed. Muddy Olives and browns are quite common at rest especially for juveniles.
