My veild chameleon is almost Juvie I think and he's been staying dark even when he's not basking is it normal or not?

Just from reading around on these forums there are many different things that could be going on...He could not be getting enough heat. He could be sick. He could not like his environment. He could be adjusting to his home.

We need the info extensionofgreen asked about. A simple reason could be he is not warm enough. Do you have a thermometer? They turn dark to absorb any heat possible. But I have no idea w/o knowing what you are doin

I think the reason you weren't answered to your satisfaction is because no one could tell what was going on with your chameleon by your brief one-sentence question. As the people who did respond pointed out, it could be from a lot of reasons and a photo would help a lot.

As master Yoda once said , "quick and easy is the dark side". Seductive it is. The dark side, for both humans and chameleons, the source has its root in FEAR. Your chameleon is communicating this. And we all know. Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hatred, and hatred of course leads to suffering. No one wants to suffer. Is your Chameleon able to see its reflection somewhere? That will piss them off. Is your domicile loud and bright and cold and dry or stinky and annoying? Then you must unlearn what you have learned. Change the environment o your self and the chameleon until you discover the variable which is affecting you both.

Some veileds get darker before they become adults, I also believe some veileds just are somewhat darker than others, keep an eye on your temps, your lighting, his urates, his overall behavior etc.
