is there a type of worm thats bad for chams?

The Super Worm (Zoophobia) is said to have done that, to a Beardie, a Chameleon, etc.
Some keepers crush the jaws of this worm.
I have fed Supers since 1989 and never had an issue, but that is only a sampling of 5,000 or so, perhaps someone here has a documented case with veterinary documentation.
I would be more concerned about adult cricket legs puncturing the mouth during munching than the Super Worm coming out like the alien......
My vote would be MYTH.

Myth. I figure the only way a worm is eating its way out of a chams stomach is if the cham was already dead and the worm ate its way before it ate its way out.
then again, I guess some parasite worms (not feeder insects) do eat their way through a chameleon....

Your thinking of the bot fly larvae. But I really doubt that a bot fly is going to lay eggs on your chameleon any time soon.
With the superworm, the chameleon usually gives them a good crunch or two before swallowing... which im sure is sufficient enough to kill it.
Just make sure your cham chews his food!
If anything had a chance to eat its way out of the chameleon... aka surviving intestinal acid and such... by money is on a real big hornworm.

Supers (or Morios as they are aka in the UK) are fine! Chams tend to shoote for the head end anyway - they are not daft, lol! Only problem could be if the cham zaps the tail end instead and it twists round in the death roll and could scratch the cham's eye/face, but as I said, they are smart and very rarely shoot for the wrong end! Amy loves them and she goes really mad for the white newly moulted ones!
