Is this common?

Hello I have a 3 month old veiled chameleon and I am curious if any one with a veiled has a similar case, at 1st any time I opened the cage I would get instant throat puff and he would run for dear life ...one day he was venturing out of his cage and I placed my hand as a stepping stone it took some time but he took it...After finally realizing that I am not trying to eat him every time I open the cage he runs towards me and gets on my hand. The only thing that will stop him is if I distract him with food haha. I thought they didnt like coming out?

You've got a social butterfly =P all of my boys come crashing to the fronts of their enclosures when I stop and stare for too long. They associate 'outside time' with sun, treats, more room.

Exactly he knows it means either phoenix or wax-worms haha. But my concern is that perhaps he doesn't like something in the enclosure? Although hes usually a green or a very bright green...Also anything that resembles a leaf he tries to taste Example: hes tries eating the fake leaves in the enclosure and tried to take a bite out of my shirt that has a leaf... He also likes to munch on his pothos
