Is this mold?

It's like almost spider web like. What could cause this? Will it survive, and how can I find out? It is brownish most likely from the stuff it was in( I hope) any advice is appreciated maybe @jannb or @jajeanpierre could help. It's an ambilobe Panther approx 3-4 mos

I got it from Sam Hacker or Color By Number Critters. Here's a pic of when I got it June 10:

@jannb it came with the incubator thing it's pretty much a plastic container with 2 damp sponges and the egg is in a small container between the sponges. It came in vermiculite but we changed to play sand as the vermiculite got too damp

It looks like it was good when you got it. I've always used vermiculite and can't recall anyone here using play sand. Maybe it got to wet. I'd keep it though and not throw it out just yet.

Yes I heard some soil typed things were better, but every one that I have seen had fertilizers
