Jackson chameleon dying i want to comfort him

My old Jackson chameleon is dying. I know he is at least 3 years old but not sure if that is the cause of death.... We had another old chameleon die before and she looked the same as he is looking now. Last night he wouldn't drink his water which was weird, and he was on the bottom of the cage but still had a strong grip. When I got home from school today he was lying on the floor on his side. Tongue sticking out, weak grip. Now he is looking worse with no grip at all, eyes almost closed. A little movement here and there but he can't hold himself up and he is VERY SKINNY all of the sudden... I don't think we can save him at this point. He is very old. I just would like some advise on how to make him more comfortable, I feel so bad I don't like watching him suffer. Anything you think would help him feel better as he is dying? I just want to help as much as I can for as long as I can. Thanks guys

I am sorry that your chameleon is not doing well. There is really not much you can do from what you are describing.. Maybe lay him on a little towel or something if he is laying on his side. 3 years old is not that old in chameleon years. They can live a lot longer than that.

....

Okay thank you :( I'm not sure what I did wrong but I won't be buying anymore chameleons after this it's not worth the risk. Thanks again

Even if you can't save him, it's still a good idea to take him to the vet, because they can find out what's wrong with him, even if they can't save him. Then you'll be better equipped for next time and there won't be a risk of him dying like this again.

Sorry your Jackson's is dying.:(
It may be old age.
There really is nothing to do to help him at this point and I suspect he probably has already passed.
If you do ever reconsider chams, we'd be happy to review your care
or if you'd like, we would do that now.

Weird, post your setup info. 3 years is NOT old at all and should NOT be dying at 3 years. Did you not even try taking him to the vet?.

If he/she hasn't taken him to a vet by know (though I doubt any positive outcome at this point) he is likely gone by now, as the description sounds dire.
Due to Monday being a holiday, and today is Saturday, chances of finding a vet are pretty low.
I agree, my jax is over 3 years and he is doing fine.
Some people have kept them more then 8 years, but jax are less hearty then veiled, or even panthers, so depending on climate and husbandry, many only make it to a few years.
