So the local pet store here in my little town is selling two Jackson's, one female and one male. I went it to see them and check things out. Both were completely disorientated in their cage. Also they were keeping both in the same cage( that is only 12"x20"x12". There is also a turtle living in the same cage. So I asked the owner what the temps were and she pulled out the thermometer and it was 90 degrees, the humidity at 30%. This pissed me off, so then I looked and there were no Misters, no droppers. They are living in a ficus, that can't hold them because bother are almost fully grown. I am going to call the ASPCA but I don't think I could take care of them because of the lack of cages for them. If anyone has any input please give it so I can figure it out.

I am happy that you listened to me and did not go buy them. You need at least 6 months with your veiled, Chip, before you branch out. We will work on the jacksons, but there may be nothing the petstore is willing to do.

Just don't buy the chameleon I would just go ahead and order online , you could just speak with the manager and state your concernes , I'm sure if u tell them what's wrong they will immediately change something

Not to change the subject, but where do you live in Colorado. I am in Colorado Springs and my wife & I have Jacksons.

Sad story, too bad pet stores don't have to know anything about what they order and sell. Do they appear to be reasonable people? They might listen to you, but I can't imagine Jacksons Living for long in that situation.

You could make one effort to educate the pet store by giving them a care sheet for jackson's (highlighting the solutions for the problems you noted) and see if they are willing to improve their care. If they don't seem interested, tell them you will file a complaint with the city office that oversees inspections for pet shops. Which agency it happens to be differs from city to city, but you can find this out by calling your city. It might be a business licensing bureau, your local or county animal control.
