Was wanting to know the best time to start to handle them. We have it time to adjust but don't want to wait so long that he uncomfortable with me handling him. He was pretty stressed as first... And is still dashing to his /her corner that it seems to have made his bedroom. TIA for any info!!

Hello Rbench and welcome to the forum!

I'm going to start off and say your enclosure is not very suitable for a male veiled. He's going to need a minimum of 2x2x4 cage. They are tree dwelling animals so the height is more important than anything else. I'd give it a week or two before handling. This will give him time to adjust to his new environment. You should also be aware that the veiled species (not all) are typically more aggressive than your panther or jackson chameleon. The best thing you can do is take it slow and be patient. You don't want to stress out your chameleon too much. Click on the "Chameleon Resource" link at the top of the page. There is a care sheet a long with other useful information that pertains to your chameleon.

Thanks!! So I'm guessing you can tell it is a male? This was just a starter cage so we will def get him more space!

I can't without a photo of its hind feet. If it's a male, you will see a tarsal spur on the back of his feet. Female if there isn't one present. Take a clear photo of the back of its foot and post it or just look up tarsal spur on a veiled and you should have your answer.

Not sure if you can see his back foot good enough...

I was told the same thing when I bought my chameleon but I read that they have tarsal spurs from the very beginning. The picture is a little dark but I zoomed in and it does not look like it has tarsal spurs. Do you have another picture of the back feet?

From the pictures that you posted I'm pretty sure you have a girl, I don't see any tarsal spurs. Do you see any nubs on the back of the legs?
