So I have decided I want some carpet chameleons, and I wish to breed them. Trouble is Im a new member so I can't use the classifieds for a while. This give me the perfect opportunity to study up on what would be best for my liitle critters. So whats a good starting point? I was reading about roach farming which would save on buying crickets. So what are some good topics to look into?

When I was at this point, I just wrote down a bunch of questions on some paper then used the search function on this forum to find my answers. Those I had a hard time finding I posted about and asked. All in all a few months into the research and I had a pretty good idea of what to expect going into this venture.

I think the best place to start is here: https://www.chameleonforums.com/general-care-true-chameleons-5943/

ok so that thread talks about true chams, but what about care for carpet chameleon? Last time I had one I had it in a fish tank. Seemed to work well.

This article is a good read with tons of info.

Researching is key to your chameleon's health.
Most people keep their chameleons in screen enclosures or glass terrariums rather than a fish tank.

Just so you know the above link is excellent article is by Kevin Stanford, dooley1 on this forum. He also sells his beautiful captive bred carpets. I have a pair, they are healthy, growing like crazy and beautiful. I keep them just like Kevin says to.

I would google "carpet chameleons" and go from there. Also there are some good books that describe care and breeding of carpets. But deciding to breed before you have carpets and are well established is their care is really putting the cart before the horse. jmo

wow carpets i think are going to be my favorite and this looks like its going to be so much fun. Seems like a great hobby as well as an enjoyable experience. I see some peoples tag lines and they say carpet 2.0 or carpet .01. What does that mean?

If you say carpet 2.0 it means you have 2 males. If you have a male and a female it would be carpet 1.1
