Just a few clarifications

So I've gotten my second chameleon now (I only had the first for a week or two since I took it home from the pet shop I work at when it developed cancer). He is a beautiful male veiled, I would guess over a year old. I want to make sure I do everything right so I had a few questions.
1. Is a dripper necessary to keep going all day long?
2. Is gut loading enough calcium supplement? or should I dust crickets once a week as well?
3. I have a red heat bulb I leave on for 24 hours, should this be on only 12 hours and be off at night for that complete darkness?
4. About how many crickets should he eat in one day? I don't want to make him obese but also don't want him to starve.

Okay, thats all I have for right now. I will try to post a picture later today of Pascal :)
Thanks!

Get rid of the red bulb completely it has no use for a chameleon an use a normal house bulb for the heat bulb an non at night, suplimenting all depends on how well you are gut loading so I Carnt say, I don't use a dripper but my musters go of 5 times a day so that's up to you

hi welcome back glad you are feeling well enough to take on a cham :D
i have my dripper run for an hour 3 times a day(i think there will be varied opinions)
again there will be different opinions, but standard thought seems to be lightly dust with calcium without d3 every day, cal with d3 and a multivitamin twice a month.
you should have a uvb bulb and a basking bulb for 12 hours a day.
if he is an adult he should eat every other day and you should try to give him crix and some other different feeders.

So the red bulb is useless???

As long as he has it on for a few hours a day all day is unnecessary. you still need to spray twice a day though.
2. Is gut loading enough calcium supplement? or should I dust crickets once a week as well?
You need to gutload and give plain calcium at every feeding, calcium with D3 twice a month and a multivit twice a month too.
3. I have a red heat bulb I leave on for 24 hours, should this be on only 12 hours and be off at night for that complete darkness?
Get rid of the red bulb. they need a clear bulb that replicates the sun. this and his uv bulb need to be turned off at night to allow him total darkness.
4. About how many crickets should he eat in one day? I don't want to make him obese but also don't want him to starve.
After a year they can be fed every other day. &-10 crickets will be sufficient for him with a variety of worms and roaches amongst other feeders.

regular white or clear housebulb. Gutloading is feeding nutritious items such like fresh fruits and vegetables. Dark leafy greens like kale, mustard greens, collard grees, carrots, apples, etc Calcium is not guloading. That is supplementing
