Just got more Hornworms

I just got 2 more cups of hornworms from my bug guy at thebugdepot. He has like 4 more left. 2 cups cost me $20 + shipping. I think he has 4 for $33.
All four of my guys/girls love these things. Icefyre Colors up as soon as he sees them. I'm definately gonna try to raise these again.

I bet once he gets a taste of one he won't look back.

Yeah my male only eats them when there's nothing else left. Hornworms are pretty damn feisty though... they flip out when I grab them and they definitely bite me. Silkworms are more passive and welcoming of their impending doom

How many of these do you have to feed a day to get the cham full? I wanted to buy some just dont know anything about the feeding process...

I normally just give mine one every day or two. along with a dubia and that's PLENTY. They are more of a treat than a staple for me though.

If you only have one cham, they will likely get too big before you can feed them off. If they come in about one inch, they'll be about 4 inches and as big around as your pinky in 5 or six days. They grow much faster than silkies. You might try and feed several when their small. If your going to order them from mulberry farms, you can also get the blue ones. Their kind of a bright teal blue. It's the same worm but they feed them a yellow food that makes them turn blue. I usually get one of each. You have to specify that in the instruction box, they don't list them although they show a picture of them. You can take them out of their container and put them in something else every few days to get them away from the food. This will slow down their growth. Good luck. David

you can put them in the coolerbox to slow them down too
just like waxworms. i think around 40 degrees, or 50.

You can somewhat control their growth with temperature.

I got two cups because I'm trying to hatch some of my own. I fed off about 8-10 of them and have over a dozen that I'm letting turn into pupa.

There are a couple of threads on here about raising your own. Just do a search for "manduca".
