Just wondering

Just wondering if it's normal for a chameleon to have really active movement days and then other days be content to watch the world go by as in not as much movement and just constantly monitoring their surroundings. Asking because some days Chandler is always on the move and other days, like today, he chooses to basically sit in two spots in his cage and just observe, not laying down on the spot he has chosen, but just kinda perched contently. This is one of his spots and this is how he will sit for long periods of time on his less active days.

I am pretty sure this is normal, just like we have the days when we are really active and others when we just want to sit and binge watch our favorite show for the whole day. My chameleon does this. Today is one of her lazy days. I think they are more active when they are hungry because their hunting instincts are kicking in and making them go searching for food. That is just what I have noticed with my cham, but it could just be one of her quirks. I am guessing that it is their instincts that make them do this.

Well, he did turn his nose up at a big juicy hornworm both yesterday and today, to the point where he puffed up and gaped at it before walking away from it. He also refuses to eat from a feeder bucket so I free-range his crickets so he typically has access to food when he decides he's hungry, including one time recently where I got home from work and only had the bedroom light on for five minutes and he decided to have a literal midnight snack lol. It could be my inexperience with male reptiles in general, as I have only had a female veiled chameleon and have a female bearded dragon, both of which ate as much as possible and never turned down food. Also, that is a bit of an outdated photo, but I'll get a new one tomorrow, the two pothos in his cage have grown enormous already.

So here's an updated photo of Chandler and his enclosure. He just had a MistKing session so he is a little grumpy.

Very normal, especially for Panthers. Male Panthers can be finicky eaters at times IME and the more active they are, the less of an appetite they seem to have. My chameleons tend to eat the most when they're just casually sitting in their basking spot. Waiting for prey to come by. In the wild, I doubt they have to search much for food. It usually comes to them.

See that's what Chandler usually does is wait for them to come to him while he basks.
