Kam's going to the vet :(

I went to feed him earlier and he was being kind of clumsy and when I picked him up his grip seemed a little weak. His eyes also seem a tad sunken in. That might just be me being paranoid though. His urates have been white and I see him drinking. He has a brand new uvb and calcium wo d3 daily plus the d3 and multi vitamins twice a month. I'm not sure what's going on or if there even is anything going on but I'm a little worried about him. I'm really hoping I'm just being a paranoid mama. I'd much rather be safe than sorry so we're going in in an hour. Fingers crossed.
I also attached a photo that I just took of him.

Thank you @GrimCamel. I've never had to transport him anywhere before, how do you suggest I get him there as stress less as possible? I feel like a bad mom for not thinking about this ahead of time, knowing he would be going to the vet sooner than later.

I haven't had to move my guy, but I've seen people on here say to put him in something somewhat small with a few branches (that won't shift around too much) in there with him so he has something to hang on to. Keep the box closed (make sure some air can exchange) and keep him in the dark and he should basically nap through the transport just like when shipping them. Good luck to you both!

Thank you! Thankfully it's only about a five minute ride but it still worries me. I'm thinking shoe box with vines/sticks on the bottom. That's about all I have at the moment.

A shoe box will do it just fine! Just make sure the sticks and vines don't move around so he can have a nice sleep during your trip ;)

Not sure where you are in the world, but in winter we use hard lunch pail to transport herps and inverts. Keeps the temperature steady, keeps them confined and in the dark, and it's easy to put a small heat pack in when it's really cold out. :)

I got him there and back safely in a shoe box.. he didnt like it though. He kept trying to escape but luckily he was only in it for a very short period of time. The vet said he looked perfectly healthy and his grip was great and he was well hydrated and actually a little chubby. He didnt poo for me before we left so I still need to bring some in for parasite testing. Apparently I'm just a worry wart. I'm just glad he's okay!

It takes a bit to learn what normal is. They aren't an animal you have ever observed closely so everything about them if pretty foreign. Better safe than sorry. Hopefully your vet gave you a bit of a lesson while you were there and pointed out why s/he thought your chameleon was in good shape. Next time you take your chameleon to the vet, make sure the box is completely dark. They won't try to excape in a dark box--they shut right down and curl up and sleep. You can also put in a well secured stick and they'll grab on and not get banged around in the box.

Well I have been observing him fairly closely so I was just going off what his normal had been but I understand what you mean. I was just being cautious. I'd rather to go the vet and have no news than bad news. And the thing about the box is it was completely dark aND he had this thick bendable vine that I stuck in there that was not moving at all but he never settled down until we pulled back home. I lifted the lid and he was just putting his pj's on. Maybe it was since it was such a short ride?

I was going to say to just wait and not take him to the vet and just observe him for a few more days as he looks good in the pic. After scrolling down, I see you went already! Well atleast you have some piece of mind now anyways. Glad he is doing well.

Probably because it was dark in there and he got mixed up and thought it was night time.

I am so happy he's okay.

Thank you Meg!

I probably would have waited but im going out of town for 4 days today and I was worried I might come home to a very sick boy. My dad will be coming over daily to feed him and stuff but he has zero experience with chameleons. Also, hed never been before and I'd been meaning to take him in for just a wellness check so I guess everything worked out great. Next time though Carol, I'm definitely not rushing to the vet unless he's actually sick sick lol.
