Keeping cage in living room - schedule

Getting set up ready for a new juvenile male carpet, I'll be getting him sometime next week.

I read 10-12 hours with lights out every night for a cham.

This is my 'tentative' schedule for him as I'm setting up timers, etc.

6:00 lights on
6:05 mist 1 minute
6:10 feed
10:05 mist 1 minute
2:05 mist 1 minute
6:05 mist 1 minute
8:00 lights out (maybe 7:30?)

If lights out is at 7:30 or 8:00, will the TV or light from the living room bother him, or will the lights out in his cage be sufficient for him to get enough rest time? Typically at that time of night the room is fairly quiet, the TV might be on, we'd be talking, but that's about it.

Thanks.

It's recommended that its 12 hours or light 12 hours of dark, but its possible to do 13 hours of light just like it would be during summer hours. My lights go out but my tv and kitchen/living lights are still on and it doesnt seem to bother my cham. He will usually go to his sleeping spot and pass out. Unless the light is directly shining on him. Hope this helps!

It does help, thanks. Where we're keeping his cage, there will not be any lights shining right on him, just some typical overhead lights to lighten the room. I was just worried about the room not being completely dark and void of humans and movement at the time its lights out for him ;)

If it does become a bother to him you can cover the cage when lights go out. Just another option.

If your cage is heavily planted your cham will learn to sleep with a leaf between him and any ambient light. Best of luck with your new addition!
