I just odered 100 1/8" Silkworms for my baby veiled, he can eat 1/4" crix.

How do I keep the silk worms from getting too big before I can feed all of them to him?>

Feed the silkies every other day. This helps-but the little things grow fast! Good luck! Did your little cham eat them right away?

Not at first, but I put it on the branch in front of him, left for a while, and when I came back it was gone so I assumed he ate it. :D

i have the solution for u... Once the silkies get too big, sell them to me! that way... you'll always have small silkies. n i'll have the bigger ones. lol. i'm joking but serious too.. eh... if you don't want them to grow as fast, maybe keep them where it's well lit? i don't know. I just noticed that when you put them in a dark place they grow faster.

Keep the temp low and do not feed them everyday, that way they will grow slower,

How cold? If I put them outside, it gets to like 70 during the day and 50 at night, is that too cold?

I concur. Keep them at 60's to mid 70's and feed them every other day. If you keep them colder, they may live, and stay small, but they won't eat. If they don't eat, they're not as nutritious. If you find that, at the cooler temp, they are not eating, then for short periods after you feed them- place them in a warmer environment. Don't over feed them, and after they've eaten cool them off again.

You keep them small by sharing with your friends. haha j/k. Dude, next time you order silkies, we should go halfs and it will save us on s hipping and the discount from buying bulk. and i could pick them up from you.
