My first venture into silkworms was a success and a failure. Of the 1000 mounted egs that I purchased, 95% of the eggs hatched. I got them to about 3" long and then either heat from their bodies or just ambient temps spiked and I had a mass kill off from fungus and too much moisture. I saved about 100 or so.
I want to get more silkies but I don't want to hatch all 1000 again. I would like to buy eggs loose or unmounted.
My question is: how long will eggs keep in the fridge.
Also if I do buy the mounted eggs. can you hatch half and throw the rest back into the fridge for later?
