Kicking Myself...Kind of!

One of the local petstores here regularly gets Florida WC Veileds in and had some at the Tampa show today. When I say this guy is huge you cannot even imagine! I even have some receptive females and this would have added some nice new blood in! He went for $80.00. I did see who got him so I made sure to tell them that I babysit and gave them my card! ;)

Sorry about the camera phone pics-I am still getting used to the G3.

Exactly how does this florida w.c. work there are that many wild veilds in florida that they can go out and catch them ? Where are they in residential areas or in the magical forests?

Veilds have established themselves in the northernmore part of Florida just like iguanas and cuban anoles, so theres enough for people to go out and catch them just like they do with the iguanas and cuban anoles.

That's amazing i would really like to see this.Veilds that are breeding and hatching in the wild.Does anyone no if this has been an impact a native species?

Yes, the poor poor native green anoles just dont get a break. They are now threatened by jamaican curly tails, cuban anoles, and veilds. I believe they are endangered now too. (anole)

That would be awesome to be in your backyard and see a huge colorful veiled in your tree. That's like seeing a frog in my back yard? I've been to Florida and I remember seeing little lizards everywhere. As much as I see flies here. I would hate to live somewhere that never gets cold though. I cannot imagine all the huge bugs everywhere.

FL wild caught veileds are only found on the west coast of FL near Ft. Myers. They are on posted private property and unless you know someone you are not allowed on this property and the owner does prosecute tresspassers.

I live 2 hours north of ft myers and I dont see how vields can withstand temps in the 40-s and 50-s in the winter.
