Labradoodle???

My wife offered to babysit a friend's labradoodle for 3 days, and now it's apparently turned into 8-9 days (all this without me knowing until it was almost there). So now I have my dogs (which I love) locked outside watching this fluffy thing bounce around the house (Daisy my bullmastiff would murder the labradoodle in about 4 seconds). I haven't had a dog follow me into the kitchen or bedroom in a long long time (they're off limits to our dogs), but I had to chase this one out a few times yesterday. I have around 100 baby tortoises in open top containers in my office at home, and now have to keep the door closed and hope nobody leaves it open. First time it touches a tortoise it's getting shot in the desert.

No offense to lovers of the (mixed) breed, just that me having to put up with it has given the (mixed) breed a bad taste in my mouth. Homeboy showed up with the dog, crate, food and 6 gallons of bottles water. Any dog that needs bottled water needs a reality check. Maybe I'm just out of touch, and you're all giving your dogs bottled water....?

Sounds like the problem is the labradoodles owner, not the dog.

I've had a bullmastiff who wouldnt hurt a flea, not even an annoying doodle dog - are you sure you cant put doodle into the yard too? I've found all the labradoodle's I've met are high-strung for the first two years, especially if the owner isnt firm. I wouldnt want one around my feet or my reptiles.

Hope you're charging the doodles owner for the extra days dog sitting and the bottled water (ridiculous)!

I am telling your HOA!!!! I am telling! Tyler has got a foo-foo dog that's not fitting in his purse..Violation big time! :p

It's the Poodle side of the dog that is annoying. My friend recently dog sat a 2 year old and it was annoying. Spaz Central.

Also, believe it or not, it could be a lot worse with the foo foo side of things.

Mutts do have a purpose at times.

I had a girlfriend that had one of those labradoddle pos's.

I don't know where she got it, and if I did I may have done terrible things to the breeders...

The dog was about as usless as breast on a bull....

Edit:

My mistake... it was a "Puggle" pug and poodle...same thing kinda...

I'm not sure I understand this at all....

I don't think it's even the dog itself that bugs me.... Seems happy, I just hate that my dogs are having to sit there watching it in the house while they're outside or in the patio room. It is a pretty worthless dog from a functional standpoint... I mean, get a big dog if you want somewhat of a guard dog, get a smaller dog if you want a lap dog, but this just doesn't fit. The only thing I see selling it is that it's non allergetic supposedly, which means nothing to me. It's pure white so you can't really let it get dirty, and it's about as wimpy as a dog can get while being +/- 60lbs. My bullmastiffs wouldn't hurt a person or a kid in any way, but with other dogs, one of my girls flips a switch and wants to attack, especially when its in the house. My other mostly easygoing dog is also up in arms at this one, more than I've ever seen her aggressive towards another dog.

There's nothing wrong with a mutt. I don't really like them being called a "designer dog," though. I don't see how you take a $200 dog and breed it to a $300 dog and you have $1500 puppies. I have a bullmastiff - French mastiff mix and she's the coolest looking dog I've seen. Mean looking, but non aggressive.

I hear you, must be confusing to your normal dogs for them to see this new dog inside while they are not permitted in.

How about Put Doodle outside and let the others in for awhile :)
Or put doodle in a single room with the door closed for awhile, and let the others have a change to indoors?

My wife's brother's family has one that weighs in at 110 pounds and is scared of our 10 pound blueshkin (RussianBlue-Munchkin) cat. ;)

He is a sweet dog and loves everyone, but he isn't the smartest canine I have met. :)

Good Luck with that, and g-d bless you, YOU ARE GOOD FRIENDS! :D

Honestly breed rarely has anything to do with the temperament or brains of the dog. My parents have two teacups and they are complete opposites of each other. No to mention standard poodles used to be bred to hunt so they really aren't stupid or bounding messes. Poodles are actually really good dogs, and they don't shed or have dander. Which is a blessing for people like my dad who have terrible allergies, but love animals. That dog's personality is a direct result of poor breeding and/or poor training on the owners part. And I would never give my dog bottled water... that seems to be a HUGE WASTE of money.

Don't even get me started on the "designer breeds". I puke a little when I think about the idiots that buy them, and justify spending the money on them. They are encouraging backyard breeders and puppy mills. A little education goes a long way when purchasing any pet.

As for the bottled water issue, I have seen people that live on wells that are contaminated and they have to drink bottled water. I would do the same for my dog is that was the issue, but it doesn't sound like that's the reason for the excessive care given to this dog. Good luck Tyler with the petsitting that has been placed upon your home. :)

Um, I would like to disagree. Breed has EVERYTHING to do with temperament. That is why a breed of dog is...a breed. Because they breed true to looks, conformation, and temperament. "Teacup" and "labradoodle" are gimmicky terms that backyard breeders use to sell horribly bred dogs. No decent breeder would mix two healthy purebreds (the parents of designer dogs are purebred rejects that aren't fit to reproduce their breed and should have been altered) or breed runty, dwarfed dogs. That is just asking for unhealthy puppies. It is all money driven, though, and it seems everyone wants some "miracle dog" that doesn't bark, shed, poop, or....be a dog. God forbid you learn to train the dog.
