Largest Reptile Store in USA

Motherlode Chameleon

Chameleon Enthusiast
The Serpentarium formerly known as the Great Valley Serpentarium is moving to a new location in Lodi California (Central California) in a couple of months and allegedly the new location is going to make it the largest reptile store in the nation. They are moving to 111 S School Street in downtown Lodi and the owner has said its going to have a large chameleon section. The place is going to be half reptile store and half reptile zoo/museum. I have dreamed of opening up something similar. :D:D:D

Man it sucks to live in Indiana! Everything has to be mail ordered. Wish I lived in Cali where you could just go down the street to get feeders and browse Chams!

I actually live about an hour away from the shop/ museum.

How is the jobing market out there?

Pretty slow.

The area where the reptile shop is going is nice, its next to a nice sushi bar and a local brewery.

Darn! I was thinking about running away, joining the circus, and going to that store occasionally. :D

This sounds so awesome! (im a so cal girl). When is it suppose to happen/ open?

They are moving now and should open in a month or two. Its going to be a while though its a big store.

Lodi? Really? I live about 40 minutes from Lodi and there is nothing around there. I couldn't imagine Lodi being the best location for a huge reptile store.

Most reptile stores in the San Francisco Bay Area do pretty poorly. Especially, since everyone found out theyre getting ripped off compared to online buys...

YEAH, LIKE EAST BAY VIVARIUM!

The biggest rip off of them all. Given the location of East Bay, at least they make a profit from all the high hippies who think buying a chameleon will make their LSD trip better.

...then this place in Lodi must have learned from their business plan! The only jobs I've heard of people having in Lodi would have to be classified as "Medicinal Farmers".

"Medicinal Farmers".

Yeah your mostly right with that call.

There is not much going on in regards to businesses in Lodi (except agriculture) like you would find in the bay area. There are some wineries with tasting rooms which are probably the highest profile businesses your going to find in the town. However, the new location of the Serpentarium is in a good location and just overall a nice location to visit (especially for Lodi) with shops to shop around and quality places to have lunch. If you can believe it they put an Imax in Stockton.

If you are looking for places to visit in the area or you're on the way to Yosemite stop by Copperopolis (a small town in the foothills in Calaveras County) and visit my families Olive Oil Company (Calaveras Olive Oil and Land Company). We have got a tasting room and tastings are entertaining and overall a neat experience.

The hippies here in this part of central California at least have the sense to move to the hills and stay out of the summer heat, unless they think the extreme heat will make them trip better.

I live in Indianapolis and there are alot of oppurtunities to get good supplies/animals here. I recently started a thread entitled; Central Indiana Reptile Shows you should read. There are also plenty of pet stores here. Send me a pm if you need directions or any ideas on stores here that might sell what you need.

The store is over 30,000 square feet. They are still far away from opening the new store though. Not even close to completely moved.

The brewery in good though. Good food and for you beer enthusiest out there about a dozen kinds of beer that are made at the brewery its self.
