So I just got a subadult jackson chameleon. he is about 6 inches long. He doesnt seem to be very active. I had a veiled chameleon a while back and he was full of energy and very out going. My new jackson just stays in one place and doesnt do much of anything. I notice he eats crickets when they come to him. and he's been drinking water on a regular basis. Is this the way young jacksons are? could he be sick? He looks healthy. but Ive only had him for about a month now. Isnt that plenty of time for him to acclimate?

Ive been concerned. So let me know if there is nothing to worry about. Thanks!

Hi I have a male and female Jackson's and mine are very active. Your best bet is to fill out the "How to ask for help form" so we can see what you have for lighting and how your cage is setup etc to make sure that things are set up correctly for the health of your cham. Pics of your cham and enclosure are helpful also.
Chameleon Info:

* Your Chameleon - The species, sex, and age of your chameleon. How long has it been in your care?
* Handling - How often do you handle your chameleon?
* Feeding - What are you feeding your cham? What amount? What is the schedule? How are you gut-loading your feeders?
* Supplements - What brand and type of calcium and vitamin products are you dusting your feeders with and what is the schedule?
* Watering - What kind of watering technique do you use? How often and how long to you mist? Do you see your chameleon drinking?
* Fecal Description - Briefly note colors and consistency from recent droppings. Has this chameleon ever been tested for parasites?
* History - Any previous information about your cham that might be useful to others when trying to help you.

Cage Info:

* Cage Type - Describe your cage (Glass, Screen, Combo?) What are the dimensions?
* Lighting - What brand, model, and types of lighting are you using? What is your daily lighting schedule?
* Temperature - What temp range have you created (cage floor to basking spot)? Lowest overnight temp? How do you measure these temps?
* Humidity - What are your humidity levels? How are you creating and maintaining these levels? What do you use to measure humidity?
* Plants - Are you using live plants? If so, what kind?
* Placement - Where is your cage located? Is it near any fans, air vents, or high traffic areas? At what height is the top of the cage relative to your room floor?
* Location - Where are you geographically located?

Current Problem - The current problem you are concerned about.

My Jacksons are couch potatoes. They wait for the crickets to come to them, or should I say me to place the crickets in front of their faces. I have a worm bowl that has a lip around the edge so worms can't climb out that they congregate around when they are hungry. I usually keep 10 superworms in it and they will wait for me to fill it. I would say they move an average of 6 ft a day. And mine were adults when I got them 2 years ago.

Without more infos, it is impossible for us to give you any tips or opinions that are worth considering. Therefore, i strongly suggest answering to what JaxyGirl mentionned.
