Least aggressive

My panther is very friendly but others have ones that are very aggressive. they all have their own personalities.
 
Ive never seen or heard anyone say they had an aggressive jacksons. Mine was laid back and everyone else Ive ever talked to said theirs was too. Now my panthers and the veileds Ive had are a diff story. lol
 
IMO. Dont jump on my back. I would say Panthers are quite freindly. But yes Ive seen mean ones too. I have watch alot of chameleon youtube videos and I wont say but there is one kind on there that is more mean than panthers.

Every chameleon is different, they all have there own personalities. Its the luck of the draw what you get. I was lucky, my chameleon Mia is such a baby she LOVES attention. She scratches at her door to be out and if you don't let her out she goes up to her basking spot to sulk. :p:D it once took 11 attempts (yip i counted) :p to get her back in her cage. I've had to get ready, do make up, clean up and so on with her sitting on my shoulder cause she wouldn't go in.

I have also been very lucky with all my chams. Lily, my first, spent her first 6 months in a reptile shop and was handled regularly and was used to people looking in her viv. When she died, I got a new female, Amy, and she was 3 months old and very tiny when I got her. It is fairly easy to earn their trust with edible bribery, lol! Now, after handfeeding and gradually moving the fod further and further away so she had to step on me to get it, whe is now like Ashleigh's Mia and demands to be let out! Tomym came from the same breeder as Lily and was passed around a lot (I am his 5th owner). It must all be down to the cham's personality and make up, as even after being moved around so much he is the sweetest, friendliest boy and has never once hissed or gaped at me.
 
My Ambilobe panther is really mello, where as my Nosy Be panther is a as mean as can be. The breeder I got them from has told me that Nosy's tend to need a little more effort to calm them. But I think it just depends on the Cham.
 
God I'm confused, they all sound the same!! Seems it just pure luck of the drawer, so to speak.
Touch wood all my reptiles have been very good natured and laid back. Lets hope when I get my chameleon he'll be the same!
He's my Christmas present from my hubby so I've got plenty of time to get things setup and all ready for him. So far I've managed to get a 3'x3'x16" flexarium off ebay. I've got to work out a list for other family members to look at for Christmas presents...or at least money towards them!
All very exciting. :D
 
I have yet to work with a chameleon that really is "friendly".
And I have worked with about 6 different species. Including the common veileds, panthers and carpets, and some of the more rare chams.
 
The only way to ensure you get a 'friendly' one is to buy an adult with an already established temperament that is tolerant of people. BUT, most people won't sell their 'nice' chameleons, so it might be hard to find one/super expensive.

My beast of a male Pygmy bites me! It is super cute. He puffs up his body and he turns into a big yellow leaf! He's huge. I believe he is 9-10 grams.

Gotta agree, never have seen an aggressive Jackson's.
 
My own experiences have taught me that the bigger the chameleon species, the more likely they are to be docile. Parsonii, melleri, and oustalet's all seem to be fairly good-natured. Even with kids making fast movements around them, somehow they keep their cool.

Just my two cents!:)
 
Out of mine (you can see species in my signature), Othello, Charlotte, and Daedalus are anywhere from very tolerant of handeling or super super social and actively seek to hang out on me. And then Cerberus and Cobalt are aggressive when I try to encroach on their personal space.

So you can see there's a lot of difference, even within members of the same species. I agree though, I've never heard of a mean Jackson's. Mine's a doll.
 
my veiled has just turned 9 month and turned into a monster, i got her out to clean the viv on saturday and put her on the curtains as usual for half an hour, when i tried to get her back in she puffed up hissed and went to bite my finger.
she normally hisses at the wife when she mists her when i`m at work but has never done it to me before.
i think she was probably contented sat on the curtain pole watching out of the window, eventually i got the gardening gloves out of the shed and got her down..she didnt get any supper that night ;)
