So I finally decided I'm getting a chameleon (yay! 
) and I have started setting up the enclosure (will post pics when finished) but I have a couple questions about lighting. First of all, there seems to be some conflict about how long the uvb bulbs (I'm using a reptisun 5.0 T5 HO) actually put off uvb. On the box it says it will last for 12 months, but everywhere else I've read said it needs replacement every 6 months. Could someone please explain this to me (in simple terms please I'm no scientist)? When does it need replacing? I also have a question about the type of bulb I should use for basking. Some say a household 60w bulb works fine, others say it disperses the heat too much and that I should get a basking spot bulb (mushroom-shaped) to have a specific area of heat. What are your opinions/experience with basking bulbs?
