Light for my new veiled.

Been out of the game for a few years used to have a couple vieled and succsessfully raised a clutch. Anyways, purchasing a light for cage. he is temporarily in a larger bird cage, round with dome top 18" diameter and about30" tall. Cant use strip light need bulb type. I've seen comments on the coil bulbs causing eye issues. What do u recommend. was looking at Repti-sun 5.0 pc non coil type but still a pc. would this do?

Reptisun 5.0 linear are the best, but the other non-linear reptisuns that are new (03-09) will work.

You plan on getting a linear tube style soon though, right?

As soon as i get a new setup bought or built. I did purchase the repti-sun 5.0 uvb tropical pc bulb to use in the dome clip light. 26watt with 130 watt output. is this not a good bulb? specs r same as most others, is it the stlye thats the problem? there were only 2 types of screw in the coil pc and the 3 u shaped pc. i got the 3 u shaped cause i seen comments on the other but im not that sure there is much difference between the 2.

Well, if it's reptisun and is the new one it should be fine. Look at the insert that came in the box and look at the lower right hand corner and see if it says 03-09. If it does its fine, if it doesn't go get one that does say that on the insert. The older ones cause eye problems, but the new ones are better.

it say 01-09. close but not 03. is this one a problem bulb?

Are you sure its a reptisun? not a reptiglow? is it by zoomed?

Positive. ZOOMED REPTISUN 5.0 UVB TROPICAL also bought a 10.0 coil for my beardy. but this is the insert for the 5.0. says it right on top. bottom right corner has zoomed address and stuff with 01-09 in corner.

I have no idea then, I'd assume it's better, but I could be very wrong.

how did u find out about old ones being bad and newer ones being better?
did company do a recall?
where did u get that date from?

Here's a cut/paste out of one of my old posts regarding the Reptisun 5.0 CFLs:

On those new vs. old Reptisun CFL dates: The new ones will have a date on the instruction sheet of 01/09 on the 5.0 and 03/09 on the 10.0 paperwork. The old ones have a date code on the instruction sheet of 12/06.

Just be careful with the distances. I'm not sure how much UVB the new 5.0 formulations output but I'll guess that you'll want to be 12" away from the basking spot and maybe more. Be sure that it is placed above the cage and aimed straight down.
