We have also have 12 hour schedule ,but she goes to her sleeping spot about 1 hour before her lights go off so I thought to set timer for 10 hours day, 14 night, would that be ok?

I agree with chamelemom stay with the schedule you already have set up. My chameleon has a set schedule but won't go to his sleeping spot until he realizes that his lights are not going to come back on again. Or if he sees me getting ready for bed myself. Haha. Seriously. I've let other people put him to sleep but he just paces and paces. But the moment he sees me he heads right for his bed. He's a freak.

At what time does your cham are going to sleep? When do you turn their lights off?
12 hours is the recommended amount of light . You would want to keep with that . My baby heads to her sleep spot about an hour before lights out . Curls up so cute !!. You're right on track with recommendation .

I don't want to argue, but 12 hours is not absolute. I tend to try to mimic the actual conditions outside. It is probably a lot more work for me and not making too much of a difference, but just how I like to do it. Nothing is wrong with the 12 hour way though. My chameleon turns in early anyway ;).

No one thinks you argue (y) . You're experience and if you say less then 12 hours won't kill your Cham then I'm guessing it's fine ;). I have one and really not a whole lot of experience . Always good to have many ways that work .

I agree I drop the time about 15 minutes a week for a month. And then two and a half months start raising it back up 15 minutes for a month. Just so I can keep up with the seasons

Mine are on a herp keeper, lights on at sunrise, out at sunset with simple progressive dimming. It's set to my time zone, so the times auto adjust based on the date.

I do 12hr UVB lamp and 11hr basking...
It probably doesn't make much of a difference but I hate being woken up by my bed room lights being switched on suddenly myself so this way they get first a little light and after that the whole shebang...
I also don't bother with adjusting to day light saving times.
