What is the difference between a flood and spot light?? i previously assumed they were the same.

How are they best used?

Thanks

Sean

What are you looking for...you need a heat lamp, which for a jacksons can be like a 60 watt regular light bulb and a uvb light, which should be a 5.0.

I don't understand the questions.

That is what i have in my enclosure. My basking bulb is on a dimmer so i can adjust the basking temp

The reason for my question was in a previous post about a cham called porkchop Dave Weldon posted:

2.) Many keepers have found that flood rather than spot basking light perform their intended task better. 50W-100W will work depending on the distance. Use a Temp Gun to measure actual skin temp whenever possible to better understand heat levels.

I was just curious and did not want to hijack the thread

A spot light will focus the light and a flood light spreads it out basically. hence the names. hope this helps.

It might be a bit harder for a cham to find the spot of a lamp. They will see the light emitting from the lamp and move under it. Will the cham find the warmest point? Maybe in time they will figure it out. With a flood lamp the area will be more equally flooded with heat/light. This should make it easier for you to control their heat because most areas under the lamps reach will be about the same. A spot lamp will create a concentrated area directly under the lamp measure maybe 4-8" depending on the lamps distance from the basking area.
