so what the perfect basking temp for a male ambilobe??? is 80ish too low? or should it be in the ninetys? im told so many different things and so many sites contradict eachother!!! i started using a 75 watt flood bulb light and it just seems like hes not feeling the heat that well..

hes about 10 months ish 9 maybe 11 ...hes still pretty small what kind of lights do you use for heat??? is a 75 watt flood \ish kinda bulb work...looks nice cause it projects the light in one area so he knows where the hot spot is....that what i thought!

Dindy, Alot of times it depends on the size of the cage, where u have the lamp, what kind of screen you have, where in reference to the bulb his basking spot it , and such. The best and only way to find out which bulb to use, is use a thermometer!!That way you will know for sure. I check my temps every so often or if i notice a change in behavior. My panthers have a basking spot of 85ish and an ambient temp of 71. I am not expert though, but from the research i have done, that is where i have mine and my guys seem to be happy.

it really depends on how cold your environment is.
Where I live, 75 watt works fine.
But high 80s seems to be good enough.
do realize that chameleon has a way to absorb heat by darkening their skin.
My basking temperature is around 85 to 87F. But, when I measure my chameleon's skin temperature, it read 97F. When it gets to low 90s, my cham body temp reach 100F.

yeagh i try to keep it at 85ish so i should be good thanks, whats the perfect temp for a veiled? would that be the same
