I feeding my locusts fresh banana and potato and kiwi and it doesn't seem like they are eating it, there are little dark bits on them though could be poo as they all stay clung to the top of the plastics tank, is for airflow? If so what can I buy that's better for them to be kept in ??????

Young Locust prefer dark greens, such as cabbage leaves, collard greens, callabrese and romaine lettuce. I feed mine oranges and tomatoes cut in half too and they like those.

Make sure that you keep the tank in a brightly lit room and if you can place them outside in the sunshine in the tank for at least an hour a day. This will encourage them to eat, they like the bright and warmth.

Don't worry about them spending time on the top of the tank, that is normal, but try offering them a more varied diet.
