I just happened to stumble upon this beauty last nite! It's huge! Hopefully I'll get some eggs soon. Does anyone know how often they lay eggs??

Fast, fast, get back outside you might stumble on more for me.:D:D:D That looks almost full grown, if I remember correctly.

I have about 5 that are huge! Got them from Steve a couple of months ago. Hopefully they start dropping eggs soon :D

Lol! I looked for a couple of minutes in and around the area that I found him. He was actually sitting on one of my recyclers. No luck on others. My driver did spot and stomp on a praying mantis. Needless to say, I was pretty hacked off at him...

What a beauty! Years ago we used to be able to find them all over the area. Now i am luck to see one a year. So sad. Ruth

Any clue as to when I should expect some eggs? And how long until lil sticks emerge? :)

There are two guys that I know of in CA who could help. They both raises tons of sticks.
Action Jackson, and SSimsswiSS

Shoot them a pm of go to their old posts.

I dont know what it is. It just doesnt look like any indians i've seen? I'm not a stick bug expert though, so it very well could be!

I was just wondering because many species have both males and females so they need to mate (some can reproduce with or without a mate though, like indians.) From what I've learned the males tend to be smaller and thinner to hitch a ride on the female to mate.

You're kidding, right? I've recently just been able to identify ambi's from banjas and nosy's, and now you want me to identify bugs? :D lol!

You're killiing me, Smalls! :p I know that the sticks I had before this one are the ones that can breed without mating. I'll cross my fingers on this new one! Thanks, Pssh!

Well, got some bad news. This big stick didn't make it. Found it dead on the bottom of the cage. Wonder what got him? The other 8 are fine... Would he have lasted a week if he was exposed to pesticides?

Perhaps natural causes? Coulda got one at the end of his life cycle already, if the other 8 are still healthy and fine.

I would guess that a week is too long for pesticides as the routine quarantine for outside catches is 24 hours.

Thx for the input. Bummer. I was hoping to be on the fast track for some eggs... :(
