Hi,

I am wondering if anyone can sell/find me a Giant Fischer's Chameleon or would know of anyone that could sell me one. I am not looking for the Standard Fischer's (K. fischeri multituberculatum or K. fischeri) .... I am looking for K. matschiei which I believe is much larger but also can be slightly less common. I would like a CB but I would not say no to a WC. I will be attending the San Diego Reptile Show on the 27th or 28th and would be able to pick up if the chameleon is ready. Thanks so much in advance!

Hi Chad,
sorry, i can´t help you to find a K. fischeri (maybe in Germany.....).

Because, the K. fischeri is not larger than the K. multituberculata.

JEAN MARIAUX, NICOLA LUTZMANN and JAN STIPALA wrote in "The two-horned chamaeleons of East Africa":

- Kinyongia fischeri - males up to 335mm - females up to 211mm (total length!)
- Kinyongia matschiei - males up to 413mm - females up to 322mm
- Kinyongia multituberculata - males up to 340mm - females up to 207mm
- Kinyongia tavetana - males up to 230mm - females up to 196mm
- Kinyongia uluguruensis - males up to 187mm - females up to 157mm
- Kinyongia vosseleri - males up to 295mm - females up to 238mm

I read about the K. matschiei as the "Giant Fischeri Chamaeleon" - do you mean this?

Yes, thank you Peter! I guess I was thrown off because I thought that adcham.com was the ultimate authority. On adcham, the K. Fischeri fischeri is listed as the Giant Fischer's with no mention whatsoever of matschiei. I'll edit my previous post. Thanks again!

And Tylene, looks like your Malachite is looking more and more rare. He's definitely worth me being patient to find my own matschiei. Give him a thumbs up for me...or maybe a mantis.

Hi Chad,
I Think, the best Information and pictures you get here, in this forum. Chris Anderson wrote a very good thread about the kinyongias. On his pictures you can see the difference between the Kinyongia fischeri and the Kinyongia matschiei.

I had a view an adcham.com - all the pictures of Kinyongia fischeri are Kinyongia matschiei.

(sorry for my english, sometimes I mix english an german..... :) )

Chad,
Don't know if you've seen this article in the chameleon e-zine
http://http://www.chameleonnews.com/?page=article&id=122
It's got lots of nice pictures and the new names.

I'll be sure to give Malachite something yummy to eat. He eats anything nowadays except crickets! The more unusual the better!

The link doesn't work. Too many https, it happens to the best of us

Here is the correct link.

Thank you for providing it. I found it to be a great read. Fischer's have been my new favorite to read about for a bit now, you should bring your little champ to a meeting sometime!

This thread has been quiet...anyone have any experience with Fischer's? I know ponders, Julirs, and Rastaman have experience. Is everyone fresh outta these beauties...WC or CB?
