Looking for some house flies

I am looking for a reliable supplier for house flies and or the pupa… Anybody have a good source? The guy have been getting them from is a flake and I am tired of his excuses… All of you who got Mellers this weekend should also be looking for a good fly place too!

I know this has been talked about before, but honestly im too tired to search for back threads… Going to bed now anyhoo. ZzZZZzzZzZZzZzzz

Thanks

I find it cheaper to buy the pure maggots from a fishing tackle store and raise the maggets to flys - only takes around 11/2 to 2 weeks. I brought a pint of maggots for £2.50 and that's loads of maggots.

Brings back some memories :) Buying maggots for firshing. In North America you can't buy'em in bait'n'tackle stores.

what's the prep that goes into feeding off flies. i received some pupae with my new chameleon and the breeder told me they should be "hatching" out in 2-3 days. is there any gutloading or is it just put them in the cage?

I don't mean to bring up a new question in your thread, but are these good feeders for all chameleons? I'd be interested in putting a flying insect on the menu to add some variety.

Chams love them , but unless your letting them hatch in the Chams cage they are a huge pain to house and maintain. I gave up after a week.

they do smell. but i gut load my flies with strawberries and other fruit so the smell was for the lack of a better word "fruity." and i kept them in a critter keeper, in a tub with a lid(you will want one).

mine lasted a few of weeks before they started dieing off, and for $9 per 1000 i feel i got my moneys worth. just make sure you have enough food and water for them, they eat and drink alot!(more than crix)

they arent the best staples but are good for exercising and hunting.

the easiest way to feed them is to keep them in a critter keeper($5 at petco). then when you are ready to feed them put the keeper in the freezer for a few minutes, this will imobilize them(sleepy time) so you can easily pick them up and toss them in the cham cage. some people even cut a wing off while they are imobilized so they can fly off away from your cham, i dont and my chams can still get them rather easily.

these are good snacks because the chams cant snag them all at the same time like crix. they fly around for hours so there are snacks for your cham for most of the day.

Well, Mel the Mellers is being a real PITA… That little terd is only wanting to eat flies letting the crix roam around without fear of being eaten. :p I ordered some pupa today however they will not show till next week. Lucky that I have some FF cups left over… Lots and lots of FF…. lots… maybe ill try some roach tomorrow.

watch out when you recieve your pupae. it got a little hot in the box when mine were shipped and when i opened the box i had 1000 BBflies!

Chad! I have had Major for over a month now and even though I never see him eat the crickets, he must be! I do put FF and crix in daily, and since he is pooping nicely daily :p he has to be eating something! I have only seen him zap something twice! Darn closet eater!

haha... I now note that some of the crix are MIA... He as to be eating them I guess... Put a fly in the cage. He will prob zap it in front of you with no prob! :)
