Madagascar & breedng

I have an important question about Nosy Bes. Most of us know they come from the island of Nosy Be. If you breed a WC pair, can you safely say they come from descent bloodlines? They aren't being crossed on the island, are they? Would most people want the offspring? I have a gorgeous WC, beautiful male and have the opportunity to buy a yr. old WC female. That person made the comment that she would make an asset to a breeding program. I know some of you have been to Madagascar. Tell me what you think, please. Would it be better for breeding sake for me to use my WC male with a CB female? Or, the 2 from Nosy Be? Thanks.

You are correct, Nosy Be Panther chameleons are a specific local of panthers which come from a smaller island off the north western coast of Madagascar called Nosy Be. The wild Nosy Be panther males actually tend to have more green in their color patterns than most of the Nosy Be you see in captivity. In captive breeding, most selectively breed to obtain the true blue look of a Nosy Be.

Here is an amazing post with tons of amazing pictures from Jann when she stayed on the island of Nosy Be https://www.chameleonforums.com/madagascar-nosy-chameleons-97925/

As for your breeding questions. No there is no crossing of locals on the island of Nosy Be. If they come from Nosy Be they are pure. There is always a market for Nosy Be as they are absolutely stunning and in fact are my favorite local. Finally, as for breeding with a WC female, that is completely up to you as you have to believe that what someone is telling you is the truth. You can't prove that a WC is from any local without breeding them and raising the offspring to see how they turn out. It would be easier to show bloodlines if you were to get a CB female from a reputable breeder and bred with your WC male as your male can be proven with just a picture.

Hope this help!
