Making sticks safe

So i was going to grab some sticks and bamboo and things from outside and sand it all down to out inside my chameleon cage, but whats the best way to clean them to make sure there are no parasites or anything on them before i put them inside?

i have seen people put all that they are going to put in there chams cage first put the sticks and what not inside of the oven and bake them to kill anything bad

You can bake then for 30min at 350 in the oven OR (this is what i do) I scrub them down with soap outside and blast them with the hose and let them dry for awhile
