Male not wanting to breed with female?

Hi!I have a male and female, both 17 months old.Been attempting and wanting to breed, but my male seems pretty aggressive. Head butting (I pulled her out straight away) he flares up, mouth gapes, he doesn't nod his head. The female is nice and pink. Really bright, very calm. Doesn't move. Has the odd mouth gape. I want to pair them, and soon as my female is getting older, but I'm a little cautious of his behaviour. He doesn't nod his head which makes me suspect he's just not interested. They are in side by side vivs, they can't see each other. However, both do love to roam out of their tanks, so I have them on opposite sides of the room on a climbing piece. But the male can see the female and vice versa. I was told from millennium reptiles that it's fine for them to be like that... (last two photos) he also said he could be either gay, or an aggressive breeder.

Any help?
Got pictures attached.
And I can send a video of my attempted breeding if you want see.

Welcome to the forum and the world of chameleons!

If you hold the male outside of the female’s cage so they can see each other but not get to each other, how does the female react to the male? What colour does the female display then?

She's pinky in colour. Doesn't do much, unless the male gapes, then she does very small and quickly. But that's about it. If anything, she stays still or approaches.
