LLL Reptiles usually sell animals in bad shape health-wise. A wellness check with an exotics vet very experienced with chameleons is always recommended, no matter who you buy from. Make sure to take a fresh fecal with you and to drop off at least 2 more afterwards to make sure no parasites were missed. An x-ray would be a good idea, too. If your cham is big enough to do so safely, and the vet is comfortable with it, and recommends it, you can do bloodwork as well

Also agree with female, in my humble opinion. Sorry about the customer service response you received from the company! How ambiguous.

Btw, excellent photos you took to show all the different parameters (y)

Ugh.......bought a male. I spent $800+ on everything just for them to sell me something I didn’t want.

This happens more often than one would think. It can be rather difficult to sex them accurately when they’re younger.

At this point they more than likely won’t take her back and will probably offer you a discount on a male in the future.

You could ask for a refund or exchange, but I have no idea if they’ll do either. It never hurts to ask if you’re really set on a male, though females are just as spectacular in their own right. Females do require more specific care for egg-laying health, though, and are less brightly colored
