male panther hanging around bottom of cage

this morning i dusted and fed my 9 month old male panther crickets like i do everyday and i saw him on the bottom of his cage. I took him out and help him for a bit and when i put him back in he went to bask and then back to the bottom i assumed he was just looking for food but he was just chillin down there for about 30 seconds until he walked back over to a stick and climbed up. Is this normal? he is health and this is the first time he has done that. thanks

I have a panther about the same age, and I have seen him do this a couple times as well. Sometimes he will even just walk around the bottom scanning around, especially when the bottom of the cage is wet. I am not sure why they do this, maybe to cool off or maybe just out of curiosity. But I don't think it is anything to worry about!
Is there any material at the bottom of the cage like substrate or paper towels?
