Male veiled makes a jail break!

I think he was w/c even though person told me he wasn't when i got him. I thiink he is at least 2-4 yrs old. I have had him at over 1 1/2 yrs. His enviroment and supplementation is fine. The problem is i showed him a female the other day, i was checking to see if she was ready. She wasn't, he was. The problem now is he is in constantly trying to get out of his cage. To the point where he might hurt himself. He even fell from about 4 ft today while climbing. He is smart enough to climb onto the screen door and he is trying to push it open. Little sh......Yesterday he pushed the corner of the door open and stuck part of his head out. Thank god i was home. She is still not ready and i'm not sure if i want to breed them becasue i think he is too big for her. He has always been the one that wants toget out of his cage. He likes to sit on top and look out the window, usually. He's got the biggest cage int he place. The only thing i can think of is to remove some of his plants so he can't get that close to the screeen, but he has even gone to the flloor and walked over to the screen front, climbed up by the door, and pushes. HELP. Any suggestion? I don't have another female to mate him with and i think that is what he is looking for. I also have a mellers and i know they say once they get the itch they won't stop until they get what they want. Has anybody run into this with a veiled? What can i do?

yes. i do have a veiled like that.
Is it his first time introduced to female?
is the female somehow in the same room? or does he able to see her?
1 thing you can do is to separate them far far away.
Bring her to another room if possible.

I think I told Dodolah to do this once.....
His Male veiled was freaking out and running up and down his cage all day.
Mine did the same thing too.
So, what i did was set up a freerange area for him.
I let him get out of his cage for about 2 hours and he settled down.
I think it worked for dodolah too.

She is in the same room, not visible at all. Because i believe he is w.c he probably has done it before, not since i had him because when i got him he had necrosis all over his casque and his dorsal spine, lost most of it, but survived. But this is the first time i showed him what i thought was a willing female, but when i got her close to him i noticed the size difference and i remember someone else saying if there was a really large size dif they might not mate. Also i thought he might hurt her, i know they can be aggresive. She is at least 15 ft away from him and he can't even see her cage. Do you think he can smell her or something and that is why i should remove her? The only thing with that is i also have 4 other females in the same room, none are visible. They are lined up along the wall and it is 32 ft long. What did you do , remove the female? For how long? And how long did it take for the male to settle down? He did settle down right? It might be easier for me to remove him fromthe room instead of the all the females. 2 of the females are gravid, i dont know if they give off a certain smell or even if chams can smell. I'm babbling. Thanks

How old is the female you are showing to him? You might have put her into her reproductive cycle by showing her to him...not sure.

Veileds produce vibrations and I've heard it said before that they can sense when another veiled is in the room...don't know for sure...but I suspect that its possible.

mine always wants to get out.
if i open the cage he runs for it, and trys to get out.
he kept on walking on the bottom because i had a mirror
about 6 feet away at that height (that i moved) and he saw a veiled
in it, so he went over my turtle tank and used to look in it all the time.
i put a huge umbrella plant right there so he cant really get to it without
traveling threw the jungle.
if you put things in his way he might not do it then.
maybe a stick ladder that attaches to the screen, or
a nice looking log with a pothos on it.

i like the free range idea, and if he is niceenough then
you should take him out with you and let him roam in a cham frendly room.
this might get him "tired"

yes. it worked for me. but, that due to his getting too big for his small cage.
While i was waiting for my custom cage to arrive, I set a free range session for him.
That seemed to calm him down quite a bit.
but, yours might get crazier if he spot the female.
