Mantis

I have the yard fully stocked, front and back and finding mantis everywhere. Their really good at blending in, and you really have to have a eye, for finding them.

If your going for a yard colony I highly recommend plants that flower all summer as they bring in more prey species of insects that will give you a larger population of mantis. When our yard is done I'm going the same route.
 
Have you got Chinese Mantises? That's what is found in our part of Central California.
Yes, I seed my yard/neighborhood with Chinese mantid. But also have native Stagmomantis californica mantid. I see the Stagmomantis mostly in the fall, near the end of their life cycle. But goal is to raise the Chinese year long indoors as a food item for my larger chameleons.
