mealworm care

I'm going to try and breed mealworms but was wondering on what kind of container I would need? I was reading information on a site that said not to use a lid but what happens when they turn into beetles? Aren't the mealworm beetles able to fly? And do I need any special equipment for the eggs?

Thanks.

If you search for "breeding meal worms" in yahoo it gives tons of good sites for info. I am raising a batch of meal worms myself but I just started. The no lid rule is for moisture reasons, it needs to stay dry and mold free. Those are the 2 major rules as far as I have read. I am using a plastic container with a double door on the top, about the size of a shoe box. You're right that the beetles will fly so having "NO" lid isn't really possible but to use a screen or something that air can pass through easily is very doable. The important thing is to keep it dry with air circulation. As for the eggs I haven't read to much that dealt with it. The one thing I did read was that when you clean your container to add the bran, or what ever you are using as a bedding, from the old container to the new one so you don't end up throwing away the eggs in the process.
