any idea where i can get some mealworms... seems everyone is out of stock- pet stores and web sites alike... i need to get food!!! :) thanks

My 4 mo. old veileds can eat supers. In fact they love them. I only give them supers one per day after they've eaten their crickets.

ill give them a shot. i feed him Phoenix worms- but while i wait for them to arrive i am running low and need something else.
he just seems to not bother with big food- like if there are larger crickets of something. but ill try that then

How old is your cham? I assume it's the Veiled in your Avatar? If so, that Chameleon is definitely big enough to eat a Superworm with ease.

Yeah, he's WAY old enough to be eating Superworms. :D

Keep the Superworms in Bran flakes for their bedding and food and keep Yam or Potato in there for their hydration. Make sure to dust them as well :)

A good way to dust a Superworm is to dip it in water and then throw it in your Calcium/Vit filled container

My senegal eats 2" superworms with no problem!

Mealworm shortage??? Who cares?
I have never purchased one single mealworm.

i only get them while i wait for the Pheonix worms now- he is not to fond of wax worms anyway- i just make sure i have something to feed him- so its my backup

one more thing.... off topic--

living in florida there are more mosquitos than population - is he safe to sleep outside- his enclosure is tight mesh but i have found one or to tiny tiny mosquitos that have gotten thru- or a spider from time to time- is that alright? weather now is perfect- at night it never goes below like 70- any advice???

Blech ... I don't like or use phoenix worms either.
The mosquitos shouldn't bother him.
Perfect night time temp would be 60 ... but what are ya gonna do? It's summer.

Fellow Floridian here!
I brought my guy in.
If you have good screen and no holes, then it shouldnt be a problem with the skeeters.
Your main concern should be ants.
Remeber it's getting hot and it's also the rainy season.
A couple hours during day is great if you home, but I wouldnt do anything overnight.
Brad is right, it's getting a little hot at night.

i left him out one night- was a cooler night maybe high 60's
and i try keep his enclosure on a table- to try stop the ants as much as i can.

i use Phoenix worms b/c of the MBD- is there anything better?

Does your cham have MBD?
Calcium powdered crickets and superworms are better.
Is he smaller due to MBD?

-Brad

yeah
- i posted a thread like 5 months ago- this site saved his life!! i was given bad advice about his lighting and he did develop MBD- had to force feed him and give him shots for a month or so!!!! but he seems to be doing AMAZING! my family still says its a miracle he is alive! they all thought i was wasting my money b/c of how bad off he was-- but yes he seems to be thriving now!

i was told try Phoenix worms b/c they are so high in calcium- just have to poke them....
but i do dust almost anything else i give him.... i feel so bad tho b/c his legs are not straight- wish they would go back...that sounds so horrible!

That's awesome that you stuck with him!
Phoenix worms are fine if he's eating them ... and you are right to prick them.
I'll stop throwing in my comments ... you're doing great with him!
Still ... try superworms .. I think he will like them

-Brad

will for sure- first thing ill get them tomorrow. i also give wax worms from time to time :) he loooves those!
i am very appreciative of all the advice- as i say, if it were not for this site and everyones advice he probable would have passed :(
