Medicating with Panacur again..?

The reason I am writing this thread is get a second opinion..bout 3 weeks ago i found out that my k.multi had parasites as was lethargic, not eating, and sleeping during the day. Took him to the vet and he found round worms..gave him panacur for 3 day with very little change..re visited and was given flagyl for ten days. The improvement was substancial that he got his appetite back and was moving around more and sleeping less however he still keeps his eyes closed from time to time..have tried contacting vet but by the looks of it he is away for a couple of weeks. Was wondering if another dose of Panacur or flagyl would be harmful??

When I was given panacur I was told to use it once every two weeks but I have also heard you can give it to them once every week. What does his poop look like? Does it have any signs of parasites still? maybe your chameleon had a parasite and a bacterial infection as well. So you could have possibly cured the parasite and not cure the other infection? I don't think panacur is as hard on chameleons as baytrils is. But when was the last time you gave your cham the panacur, how long has it been?

his poop looks good now - brown and moist but not runny..before it was undigested. Last time i gave him panacur was 2 weeks ago..left a 5day gap and gave him flagyl..it has now been 5 days since his last dose of flagyl

Fenbendazole (Panacur) is very safe to use and almost impossible to give a lethal dose. It does not kill any worm eggs in the chameleon, however. So, while it may get rid of the worms with the first dose, it should be repeated after 10-14 days to kill the recently hatched worms before they mature to reproductive size. I think most vets are recommending three rounds of medication now.
