Metal Bird Cage? Pro or Con?

I have seen some pretty nice, very large bird cages for sale and look like they could be turned into an awesome chameleon habitat. What are your thoughts on this. I am thinking ahead for when Fiona's current cage is too small. I would really appreciate your opinions on this.:)

Depending on the metal bars size in between since some chameleon will be too small or too big, also the shape of the bird cage is a factor too, since you will need to put ur heat lamp n uvb lights above the cage ,hope this helps a bit.

I have kept Yemen and Panthers in large birdcages. About 4 foot tall by 2 foot deep and 4 feet wide. My guys seem to love it. You have to tub feed, but it's much easier to mount things onto it and much more durable than a screen.

The only real con was one of my Yemen males would try to push his head through the bars, it started to leave marks on his face. My panther however is a lot more calm and seems to love and utilize all the space. Just be sure to adjust your UVB and heat accordingly.

I believe there are quite a few keepers that have indoor chameleons that use large bird cages for outdoor excursions. I would think that the primary con would be that the feeders can escape but the cham could always be fed in its indoor/permanent enclosure before going outside to sunbathe.

Than you for your input...not sure until Fiona gets bigger if she will try climbing through bars....I cup feed her as she won't eat from my hand and that's ok.

Thank you for your info. I cup feed and haven't had any escapees yet. I want to use this as an indoor enclosure. F
