Methods of keeping it cool

What are some methods, if any, keeping an enclosure cool at night time, like at 65 degrees fahrenheit or so, without an air conditioner or opening a window?

Surveillance van A/C. Take a metal box with dry ice at the bottom. Cut a hole on both sides. Put a fan to blow thru it. Works awesome!

I'm going to have to try this idea! Our house has no AC and it's been in the 90's all week! The ambient temperature in poor Espio's cage is getting too hot for him.

Surveillance van A/C?

When I was a young sprat, I used to build handicap , music band, and surveillance vans for the navy and fbi. The law had us make quiet A/C units that no one could hear from the outside, as they would obviously have to leave the van off. Those vans would have like 8-10 gel cell batteries running all kinds of electronics. Hence the need for efficient and quiet cooling. It got ROASTY back there with everything on.

LOL!! do you live next door to the dry ice factory by any chance??!! ;)

Actually the closet one is Holiday Ice in Suffolk, about 30 minutes away. It is owned by someone I went to school with, didn't say I liked him. If my A/C didn't work, I would abandon house immediately. No A/C, no mortgage payment. Off a bridge I would go. I don't like summer!

So where can get a surveillance van A/C then?

Big chunk of ice with a fan blowing on it toward the cage. Fill and freeze a milk jug each day and use at night? Why can't you use a small window AC? Something's got to give somewhere. If your room is too warm you have to either remove the heat with an AC or get some cold object and move air over it to chill the air down. Or, open the window if its cooler outside than inside.

Try getting a ultra sonic cool mist humidifier and fill it with cold water. Aim straight at the cage or so half of the cage is being hit by the humidifier. I'm from Fort Collins as well and the heat has been pretty harsh. Just keep him well misted and try the humidifier and maybe a well positioned fan to circulate air a little better

Back in the old days, before we could afford AC, we used fans.
We had a large window fan on the second floor, blowing out instead of blowing into the house.
We just opened windows on the first floor and the fan would create a nice current. Sucking the outside air through the house, and out the fan.
Of course, when it's in the 90's, nothing but AC is going to really work.
If you can find a small room with a window to move your chams, you can get a low BTU small room AC for pretty cheap.
