Meyers-Briggs, Anyone?

My Intro to Psychology class required us to take the Meyers-Briggs personality test at the beginning of the semester, and we just got our "results" (if you can call them that- personality tests are rife with inaccuracies and are not widely accepted as scientifically accurate) back on Friday.

I scored as an INTJ- Introverted iNtuitive Thinking Judging. The description they gave of the type sounds like the perfect serial killer to me. Which I am adamantly not!

I wonder if you would get different results depending on how you are feeling that day. Have you taken this test? How did you score? Do you feel that the description of your "type" is/was accurate?

Speak for yourself :p I win my arguments with logic and sarcasm, not threatening that my opponent must put the lotion on it's skin, or else it gets the hose again.

I seriously doubt the accuracy of this test. I think it's ridiculous that it is part of a university level class. Oh well, better get back to my plans for world domination!

Sarcasm and logic are an important part of the supervillain repertoire :). Also being a snappy dresser doesn't hurt... Myself, I am partial to capes and boots...

I agree - it's a fun exercise, but it's no more or less accurate than a horoscope. You get what you read into it.

I love that image, BTW. I'm going to post that at work. I work at an engineering company so we are always having discussions on the best management styles for different M-B personality types.

ISTJ. Totally fits me I'm afraid. I've taken the test 6 times over the years and ISTJ every time. :)

I work for an executive consulting firm and we use MBTi as well as other diagnostics frequently for clients. I'm an INTJ, may have initially shared your thoughts but have come around since then, remember for each type their is a spectrum you may be an I but only a few points from an E. The more extensive tests will show you how you fall on those ranges not just give you a generic type. Some other INTJ people you may recognize, Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerburg, Isacc Newton... We're not all bad!! Ever thought about a tech startup?!

Most recently did this with co-workers and it really explained many miscommunications. If you look at the research behind the study, it's pretty well validated. Perhaps don't look at your own scores, look at others and see if it fits them. We did a group exercise where we had to pretend plan for a camping trip. All of the "T"'s had a list, camping gear in designated storage area, checked site availability and planned a menu. All of the "F"'s grabbed some clothes and a bag, stopped by grocery store on way out of town and hit the road figuring they would find a spot somewhere. It was amazingly consistent.

INFJ for me. I always did prefer Radagast to some other mage types. That Sauron eye image always makes me think of Visine ads.

I've taken this during a couple of trainings over many years and yes, it did shift a bit each time. Probably would depending on how far out on the scales you land. The more extreme some traits are the less likely to change over time. AS you get older you could either get MORE extreme (set in your ways) or LESS extreme (mellow with age).

We did get a range; the print out I got suggested that I test as an INTJ who has "created strategies to utilize your naturally weaker Feeling and Perceiving functions" and as such "may demonstrate some traits that are found more often in an INFJ or INTP".

I work in scientific research at the moment, and am very happy there :)
