Milk

So I was just looking at a jug of vitamin d milk that I had in the refrigerator. It said it contained d3, and I started to wonder, "could this be used to help treat chameleons with MBD?" Although I'm sure the answer is probably no, I still want to know what you guys think! :)

i would think that there are too many animal protiens in milk to make it benificial, but it never hurts to think and ask questions.
solid snake you come accross a little harsh there i hope it was not your intent to make a new member feel silly

I think that giving a mammals lactose secretions to a reptile is just plain out silly. Ill have none of it...

He/she was asking a question, your reply seemed ignorant. Please answer questions in a decent manner

i've most certainly never heard anybody ask that question, nor have i wondered it myself. i guess there are a lot of different questions to ask.

what else is in the milk, and in what concentrations? after you find that out (as i'm sure that most of that stuff in the milk is found a chameleon's average diet) you would have to use some sort of math to figure out if how much of what is in that milk is going to be too much.

my consensus however, is that it probably has way too much calcium to be considered safe for a chameleon. and normal milk (i think) has a ton of fat

Didnt mean to offend.
I would much rather have people ask questions.
Thats whats so great about having the forum.:)

To the OP:
Please dont feel that I thought it was a stupid question. Question was valid. I can understand the thought process. ;)

The OP stated he thought it wasnt a good idea in the original post, and wanted to know everyones thoughts. I stated my thoughts.

What part of it was ignorant? Since we are sharing opinions here, I think your ignorant of the definition of ignorant.;)

Google images of "woman nursing pig" and you will see all kinds of pics that debunk, "humans also are the only mammal to drink the milk of another mammal".
Search for yourself as posting images seemed "wrong":D

there are all kinds of things you could find a "human: doing but as for without our intervertion it would not happen in most cases.
really i was just making a lighthearted fun comment to keep the thread friendy.
im sure you could also find instances of dogs or cows feeding other animals from the teet but agian rare at best and in most cases it would be due to human intervention.
;):)

my cats love cow milk:D Well they take it upon themselves to clean out my empty cereal bowls on the desk. Us as humans are probably the only species to cook our food too I'm guessing , we're such weirdos. :D
